Perpetuating the language and culture of Tokelau

Ke fakaola te gagana ma te aganuku Tokelau; ma ati ake te ola haogalemu o tino Tokelau i luga o Amelika

“To perpetuate the language and culture of Tokelau; and to improve the economic and social welfare of the Tokelau people residing in the USA”

Malo Ni! Welcome to Te Taki Tokelau Community - Training and Development, Inc. We are so pleased to kick off our summer with this website!

Covid-19 had a big impact on our community. Following our local government policies, Te Taki was forced to take a mini hiatus. However, we were not idle. During the height of this pandemic, here in Hawai’i, we were blessed from other communities with food boxes. These boxes contained fresh produce like milk, eggs, cheese, as well as meats like chicken and beef to name a few. The boxes were distributed from our Mililani building and delivered to our elders. From October 2020 to May 2021 over 500boxes reached 250 families! Thank you to our affiliates and our volunteers who made this possible. Highlighted above are some of our previous projects like Ta Le Vaka. Completed in 2019, with the first voyage of our vaka, our community was able to come together and celebrate history in the making. Due to all the new safety precautions because of Covid-19, Te Taki is working on new methods to reach our community to maintain our mission.

Tokelau ke ola!

Te Lumanaki o Tokelau i Amelika

Guided by Tokelauan values and the knowledge passed from our ancestors, we are mindful of the contemporary reality in which Tokelau families in overseas communities live, work, and raise their families.
